Called to Serve in the Ghana Cape Coast Mission
This is our first experience with social media. Our daughter-in-law, Noelle, was so kind to help us set it up. She has given us a good start. I am sure that we will get better at it over time.
We are so honored to serve the Lord in the Ghana Cape Coast mission. We will serve anywhere the Lord calls us.
An introduction seems appropriate. We are Rodney and Melanie Hillam. We reside in the United States of America. We live in Idaho, which is one of the northwestern states. Idaho Falls is the city where President Hillam was born and raised. Sister Hillam was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. We met while attending BYU-I (Ricks College). We were married in the Cardston Alberta Temple. Soon after we were married we left Idaho Falls to go to dental school. While in dental school Sister Hillam received her Bachelors degree in Education. President Hillam attended Creighton University where he received his doctor of dental surgery degree (DDS). Following this training we left for Iowa City to attend the University of Iowa where he studied to receive his degree in orthodontics. We returned to Idaho Falls to practice and have been here for 27 years.
Both of us served missions. Sister Hillam served in Utah Salt Lake City North Mission and President Hillam served in the Netherlands Amsterdam Mission. We both loved our service as missionaries and have longed for the opportunity to serve again, but this time together.
We are most proud of our four amazing children, three boys who are married to our beautiful and wonderful daughters-in-law and one daughter who is our baby. She is now 21 and not much of a baby anymore. We have the most perfect grandchildren and love them all and will miss their warm hugs during our service. We are so glad for FaceTime so that we can peek in on their family events from time to time.
Jordan and his wife Crystal live in Idaho Falls. Jordan is holding Luke who is 2 and from left to right is Daniel who is 8, Eva who is 5, and Emma who is 4. Jordan joined the orthodontic practice almost 2 years ago and will be assuming the reigns of the practice while we are gone.
Wade and his wife Kallie live in Louisville Kentucky. Wade is holding Porter who is 3 and Kallie is holding Ivy who is 2. Wade will be starting his final year in his orthodontic residency at the University of Louisville
Madison is our youngest. She returned home last year from her mission to the Portugal Porto Mission. She is attending Brigham Young University-Idaho where she is studying to become a nurse.
